Welcome to The Flip Side!
While Mood Flip itself is still in development, it’s never too early to start getting the word out. Or to just ramble on about nonsense. I don’t expect to see too much traffic on this site just yet until there’s an actual released game for people to talk about, but I do like the idea of blogging about my development process and learning more about running a website. And so here we are.
What is Mood Flip anyway? Well, it’s a little puzzle game for mobile devices (iOS and Android at this point) where the goal is to flip your Moodies so that they’re all Happy within a set number of moves. “What the devil is a Moodie?” I hear you ask. They’re a bit like emojis, only they live in outer space and suffer from my terrible lack of artistic prowess. Here’s a Sad:
Poor thing needs cheering up, I’m sure you’ll agree. Fortunately, in the game all you’ll need to do is tap it once to flip it into one of these:
Much better, right? There are other types of Moodies you’ll encounter as well, such as Angry, Sick, and so on – each Moodie has its own specific rules about how it flips.
There’s also the push move, where instead of a single Moodie tap, you hold down your finger to bend space into a gravity well and then release it to flip a whole bunch of Moodies all at once. Very satisfying. Unfortunately I still need to figure out how to capture a video out of the game first, before I can show you how that looks.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. But as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so I’d better stop all this rambling for now and start the day’s coding. That rotation bug isn’t going to fix itself.
